The Ceremony

I will start by welcoming your family and friends to your wedding day.

My introduction provides the opportunity to share your story as a couple and to acknowledge (on your behalf) the love and support of your family, including your children (if applicable) and any family or friends who are unable to attend.

  • I will then introduce myself, describe my role, and explain the Marriage Act and what marriage means according to Australian law (the Monitum);
  • The giving away or parental blessing follows;
  • A reading, poem or song can follow. I can do this for you (or a family member or friend) – or you may choose to do it yourself at this point;
  • I will ask you if you wish to proceed, then acknowledge your willingness to proceed with the ceremony;
  • Vows are exchanged. You can write your own unique vows, or choose from a range of beautiful vows that I have available;
  • Exchanging of rings. Prepare your own words, or choose from a selection of readings I have available;
  • I will pronounce you are now husband and wife. This is the conclusion of the ceremony and is the time for the kiss!

Signing of the legal documentation follows, including the official Marriage Certificate.

I then announce the newly married couple to the wedding guests.

A blessing or reading of congratulation can be read at this point if desired.
